WordPress Web Design Brisbane

WordPress web design is the work of planning, designing and building a business website on WordPress, then handing it over so you can run it yourself. In Brisbane that usually means five to fifteen pages, one for each service you sell, and a back end you can edit without calling a developer.

It suits established small businesses rather than startups testing an idea: trades, clinics, schools, contractors and service businesses that already have customers and need the website to carry the load. The site is built to be updated by you weekly, not touched once a year by an agency. It runs on standard WordPress hosting anywhere in Australia and connects to the booking, payment and enquiry tools you already use.

We are Web Ways Tech. We build WordPress websites for Australian businesses, and three of the four projects below are in Brisbane. Prices start at $1,200 and are fixed before we begin.

Four WordPress websites we built, three of them in Brisbane

Most agency pages in this market show a wall of client logos. A logo tells you nothing about what changed. Below are four sites we designed and built, three of them for Brisbane businesses, and each one links to a case study that goes through the before and after in full.

Skiva Technologies: one services page became eight

Skiva is a refrigeration contractor in Brisbane. Their old website carried all eight of their services on one page, with twelve internal links pointing at it. A customer with a failed cool room had to read past commercial installation and preventative maintenance to find out whether Skiva could help them tonight.

We rebuilt the site in two weeks and gave each of the eight services its own page, so a search for one specific service lands on a page about that service. The emergency call path moved into the header, where someone in trouble can reach it in one tap.

Tagiev Music School: a blog feed became nine pages

Tagiev Music School was running a default WordPress theme, and the home page opened on an audition notice from a term that had already finished. Parents looking for piano lessons were landing on a blog roll and leaving.

The rebuild produced nine pages, one for each programme the school runs. Nothing was thrown away for the sake of it. The parts that worked were kept and given a proper place.

Brisbane International Youth Music Competition: a website that runs an event

BIYMF is the largest of the four, and it is not a brochure site. It is a WordPress website built to run an event: entries in three separate streams, audio submissions with each application, payment online, and a portal where adjudicators do their scoring. Eight years of published winners sit behind it.

It runs on WordPress with WooCommerce, Elementor and JetEngine, and it is the most demanding Brisbane WordPress build we have done. This is the answer to anyone who has been told WordPress cannot handle anything complicated.

Balkan Automotive: a page for each thing people search for

Balkan Automotive is an auto electrical and diagnostics specialist. Their customers do not search for “mechanic”. They search for ECU remapping, diesel tuning, or why a dashboard light will not clear, and each of those is a different person with a different problem.

All of it sat behind a single page. We rebuilt the site in fourteen days and gave diagnostics, ECU repairs and programming, software tuning, air conditioning, aftermarket electrical and roadside assistance a page each, so a search for one exact service lands on that service. The roadside call-out fee is stated on the page rather than kept for the phone call, because a driver stuck on the shoulder wants the number before they ring.

Web Ways Tech built our WordPress site and made the whole thing painless. Easy to deal with, quick with feedback, and they explained things in plain English rather than tech speak. The site looks sharp, works properly on a phone, and it's simple enough for us to manage day to day. Really pleased with how it came out.

Launching an online store seemed complicated, but thanks to Vasilii's work, everything went smoothly. He set up a convenient ordering system, payment, integration with delivery, and even helped with SEO. Now we have a beautiful, functional store that brings stable income. Excellent specialist, I recommend him!
Vasiliy built an amazing e-commerce website for us, and we couldn’t be happier! The site is fast, user-friendly, and optimized for both desktop and mobile users. The checkout process is smooth, and all the integrations work perfectly. Sales have increased since launching, and our customers love the new experience!

I highly recommend it.
Working with Vasilii on my web application was an amazing experience! From the start, he really took the time to understand what I needed and turned my ideas into a sleek, functional, and user-friendly app. The entire process was smooth and stress-free because Vasiliy kept me in the loop and was always open to feedback.

What really impressed me was his attention to detail and how he used the latest technologies to make the app not just work but really stand out. If you’re looking for someone who knows their stuff when it comes to custom web app development, Vasilii is the person to go to. I couldn’t be happier with the results. Highly recommend!

I’m incredibly grateful to Vaso for the amazing work he did on my web application! From the very beginning, he took the time to understand my needs and turned my ideas into a beautifully designed, easy-to-use app. Vaso’s dedication, attention to detail, and passion for what he does really stand out. He kept me updated throughout the entire process, explained everything in simple terms, and was always ready to make adjustments when needed. If you’re looking for someone who truly knows what they’re doing in web application development, Vaso is the person to trust. Highly recommend him!
I turned to this web studio to develop my own website for my company. To be honest, I didn't exactly know what result I wanted in the end.
However, thanks to Vasilii, an amazing design was created that perfectly conveyed the concept of my company. The communication with the web studio was prompt, polite, and responsive, and the staff worked hard. The layouts for the designs and finished website were completed on time! I would also like to mention the convenience of using the new site, as various functions were added that I hadn't even known about!

Many thanks to this company for their high-quality work.

What does WordPress design and development include?

Quotes for website development are hard to compare because agencies describe the same work in different words. Here is what is in ours, whether the job is a new build or an existing WordPress website that needs rescuing.

Structure before design

We decide what pages exist and what each one is for before we build your website, and before anyone opens a design tool. Most weak business websites are not ugly. They are badly organised, with three services crammed onto one page and the enquiry form at the bottom where nobody scrolls.

Design applied to your brand

Your colours, your logo, your photos where you have them. If you do not have brand assets, we work with what exists rather than inventing a new identity and charging you for it.

Pages that work on a phone

Most enquiries to a trade or service business here arrive from a phone. The layout, the tap targets and the contact path are checked at phone width, not scaled down from a desktop mockup at the end.

Speed and structure that search engines can read

Clean headings, one clear subject per page, images sized properly, no theme bloat. What that groundwork does and does not buy you is set out in the pricing section.

A contact path that people finish

Enquiry form, phone link, and where it suits the business, a booking or quote flow. On Skiva it was an emergency call button in the header, because the customer in that moment is not filling in a form.

A back end you can use

Everyday content is yours to change without booking anyone. The WordPress platform lets a page be built the way the content needs rather than the way a template allows, and we use that where it changes something for the reader. Custom work only goes in where the business needs it, because custom work is the part you cannot edit yourself afterwards.

Do you need a new WordPress website, or a redesign of the one you have?

Three of the four projects above were rebuilds, not new builds. That is the more common case: the business already has something, and the question is whether to repair it or start again.

When a redesign is the right call

A redesign is right when the content is sound and the structure is roughly right, but the design is dated, the site is slow, or it was never built for phones. Here we keep the pages, the text and the search rankings that go with them, and change how it all looks and behaves.

When a new build is the right call

A new WordPress website is right when the structure itself is the problem. Skiva and Tagiev were both that case. No amount of restyling fixes one page doing the job of eight, because the issue is not how it looks, it is that eight different customers all land in the same place.

If you want to redesign your website rather than replace it, say so early. It changes the quote, and it usually costs less.

Get a price for your site

Four answers, and you get a figure in writing. A call only if you ask for one.

  • A figure in writing, not a discovery call first.
  • Fixed price agreed before any work starts.

If you want SEO as well

The build gets the groundwork right: clean structure, one subject per page, fast loading, page titles you can edit. That is what makes search work possible, and it is included in every package above.

None of this has to be decided now. Plenty of businesses launch the site first, watch what search brings on its own for a couple of months, and add SEO once there is something to work with.

SEO Launch

$1,300

added to any build

  • Keyword research for your services
  • Page targeting across the site
  • On-page work on every page
  • Google Business Profile setup

Ongoing SEO

$790

On the cheaper end of this market

You will find affordable website design Brisbane offers advertised from $399 and from $990. Those are real offers and they are not scams.

$399 to $990

What that usually buys

  • A single template page
  • Stock text you did not write
  • No time spent on what your services are
  • No thought about how someone contacts you

From $1,200

What we sell instead

  • A page for each service you sell
  • Text written from what you tell us
  • A contact path checked on a phone
  • Support that continues after launch

If that is what the business needs right now, it is a reasonable purchase. What we sell starts at the point where structure, content and follow-up support are part of the job.

Who looks after WordPress hosting and updates after launch?

A WordPress site is not finished at launch, and this is where a lot of cheap builds fall over. WordPress core, the theme and the plugins all update. Left alone for a year, a site collects security warnings, broken layouts and a contact form that quietly stopped sending.

Every package above includes a support window: 7 to 14 days on Launch, 30 days on Business, 45 days on Growth. That covers the settling-in period when small things surface.

After that, you have two options and both are fine.

Look after it yourself

You have the login, the files and the website hosting. WordPress updates are a button. We will show you what to click and what to leave alone before we hand over.

Let us do it

Ongoing WordPress support covers updates, backups, uptime checks and small content changes, so the site does not drift. If your WordPress hosting is somewhere you are unhappy with, moving it is usually a one-day job. This suits businesses where nobody has the time or the appetite to log in every month.

We would rather tell you which one fits than sell you a plan you do not need. If your site is five pages and rarely changes, the first option is usually right.

WordPress or a website builder: which should you choose?

$1,188

a Squarespace subscription over three years, and the site stays theirs

$1,200

a Launch build once, and the files are yours from day one

Squarespace, Wix and Shopify all build a website faster than we can, and for some businesses that is the right answer. It is worth being honest about where the line sits.

A builder makes sense when you need three pages, no integrations, and you are testing whether the business works at all. Nobody should pay $1,200 to find that out.

The arithmetic changes once the site has to last. A builder subscription at around $33 a month is roughly $1,200 over three years, and at the end of it the site is still on their platform, in their editor, with their export limits. A WordPress website costs more on day one and then costs hosting. The files are yours, the content is yours, and a different developer can pick it up without a migration project.

The other difference shows up when the business grows. Using WordPress, a five-page site and a fifty-page site are the same platform, and the second one does not require starting over. Tagiev needed nine programme pages with different content on each. BIYMF needed three entry streams, audio uploads, payments and a scoring portal. Both of those are ordinary WordPress web development. On a builder, the first is tedious and the second is not possible.

On Wix or Squarespace now and wondering whether to move? That is a conversation worth having before you renew. Sometimes the answer is stay.

What should you look for in a WordPress web designer in Brisbane?

We are not in Brisbane. Our address is in Kogarah, and we are not going to put a Queen Street suite on this page and hope you do not check.

The three Brisbane builds above were all done remotely, start to finish. That is not luck, and it is not something we ask clients to put up with. It is what the process is built for.

01

One person, named, who answers

You talk to the person building the site. There is no account manager relaying your message to a team you never meet, and nothing gets lost between them.

02

A link you can open any day

The site goes on a staging address from the first week. You watch it take shape rather than waiting for a reveal, and you can send a change the moment you see something you do not like.

03

Calls that are booked, not chased

We schedule the review calls in advance and we run them to the point. Nobody is waiting three days for a reply to a two-line question.

04

A fixed price, agreed before we start

There is no meeting needed to work out what the project will cost, because the number is settled before any work begins.

05

Distance adds nothing to the timeline

What sets the pace is how fast the content arrives from you, and that is the same whether we are one suburb away or nine hundred kilometres up the coast.

The only thing being outside Brisbane genuinely changes is a photo shoot of your premises or your team. That is work for a local photographer anyway, and we will say so rather than sending a web developer with a camera.

Common questions

Ours are $1,200, $2,000 and $3,400, set before the project starts. Across the market here you will see anything from $399 for a template page to $10,000 and up from larger agencies. The number moves with page count, how much content has to be written, and whether the site needs bookings, payments or integrations.

One to two weeks for a Launch build, two to three weeks for Business, and four to ten weeks for Growth. The part that usually sets the pace is content: how quickly we get your service details, photos and any existing text.

You can update it yourself. That is the point of building on WordPress. Prices, staff, opening hours, new posts and most page content are editable from the dashboard, and we walk you through it at handover. You only need a WordPress developer for structural changes or new functionality.

No. It runs a large share of the web, including sites that take payments and manage members. What is outdated is a neglected install running a 2018 theme and unupdated plugins. That is a maintenance problem, not a platform problem.

Sometimes. If the current site brings enquiries and you can edit it, keep it. Move when the platform is blocking something you need, when you are paying subscription fees for a site you cannot take with you, or when the design is costing you credibility.

Yes. Each package carries its own support window, listed on the cards above, and ongoing WordPress support is available after that. It is optional, not bundled in by default.

The same person you talk to. We are a small studio specialising in WordPress, not a pool of designers and developers where your job gets allocated to whoever is free. For larger builds like BIYMF we bring in specialists, and we say who and for what.

Not on its own. WordPress gives you the controls: editable page titles and descriptions, fast pages and somewhere to publish. Ranking comes from the search work on top, which we sell as SEO Launch at $1,300 or $790 a month ongoing. See the section under the prices.

You do not have to host with us. The site is yours and it will run on any decent Australian host. If you would rather not deal with it, we can arrange hosting and keep the latest WordPress version running on it.

A maintained one is. The risk comes from abandoned plugins, weak passwords and skipped updates. We set up the site with current plugins, sensible permissions and backups, and we tell you what needs to happen monthly to keep it that way.

Talk through your Brisbane website

Tell us what your business does and what the current website is not doing. We will tell you what needs to change, which package fits, and what it will cost, before you commit to anything.

If you are in Brisbane, on the northside, out towards Ipswich or Logan, or anywhere else in Queensland, the process is the same one that built the sites above.

Plenty of people sell WordPress web design in Brisbane. Between agencies, freelancers and every WordPress website designer on Upwork, you are not short of options. What we offer is a number agreed up front, builds you can go and look at, and a straight answer about what we do not do.
