Websites for plumbers

Plumber website design

A plumbing website has one job on a phone: get the call before the customer scrolls back to Google. In September 2026 we ran 31 Sydney plumbing sites through Google’s mobile speed test and an accessibility check. Most of them lose that customer in the same few places.

Our plumber website design is built around those checks, with a page for each of your plumbing services. From $2,000, no GST added, live in a week.

What we found on 31 plumbing websites in Sydney

23 of 30

took longer than 4 seconds to show their main content in Google’s mobile test. Google treats anything over 4 seconds as poor. The middle result was 6.1 seconds.

17 of 31

showed no licence number on the home page. Plenty of them said ‘fully licensed’ instead.

28 of 31

failed at least one automated accessibility check. On 26 of them it was text too faint to read against its background, which is also what a customer squints at in daylight.

7 of 31

had no main heading at all, so neither a search engine nor a screen reader can tell what the page is about.

1 in 3

plumbing businesses across 20 Sydney suburbs has no enquiry form on the home page. That figure comes from a wider scan of 175 sites.

How we checked

We took every plumber that Google Maps listed for 20 Sydney suburbs, picked 40 at random and tested the home page of each on 30 September 2026. We kept the 31 that loaded as the business’s own website. Speed is Google’s PageSpeed Insights lab test on a simulated mobile connection, so real visitors may see faster or slower. The accessibility check is axe, which finds a share of problems, not all of them. We looked for a licence number on the home page only. We are not naming any business.

02 / NSW rules

Your licence number belongs on the website, not just the van

In NSW, advertising for plumbing, draining and gasfitting work has to show the licensee’s name, the licence number with its category of work, and a business phone number. The rule covers internet advertising, and your website is advertising. NSW Government: building trade advertisements.

It is also the cheapest trust signal you have. A homeowner choosing between 2 plumbers can check a number on the NSW licence register in a minute. ‘Fully licensed’ with no number asks them to take your word for it.

On every plumbing site we build, the licence number and category sit in the footer of every page and again on the contact page, next to your name and phone number.

03 / How plumbing work arrives

Burst pipes and bathroom quotes need different paths

Two customers land on the same site. One has water coming through the ceiling. The other is planning a bathroom renovation for March. A site built around a single contact form serves neither of them well.

The urgent job

Your number is the first thing on a phone screen, and tapping it rings you. No form, no menu to open first. If you take after-hours calls, the site says so. If you do not, it does not claim ’24/7′, because that promise gets tested at 2 am.

The planned job

A short quote form that asks for the suburb, the job and a photo if they have one. Planned work is where people compare, so this is also where customer reviews, your licence number and photos of completed jobs do the work.

Then each of the plumbing services you want more of gets its own page: emergency plumbing, hot water, blocked drains and drain cleaning, gas fitting, leak detection, bathroom rough-in. Someone searching ‘hot water system replacement’ should land on a page about hot water systems, not on a list of 14 services with one paragraph each. If real estate agents and property managers send you work, they get a short page of their own: how to book, how you invoice, how fast you attend.

04 / Before launch

6 checks every plumbing site passes before it goes live

01

Main content visible in under 4 seconds

In Google’s mobile test on the finished site, so a customer on 4G is not looking at a blank screen.

02

Phone number one tap away

At the top of every page on a phone. Someone with a leak should not have to hunt for it.

03

Licence number and category

In the footer and on the contact page, so a homeowner can check you before they call.

04

One main heading per page

It names the job, and it is the first thing search engines and screen readers read.

05

Text that passes the contrast check

Readable on a phone outside, in full sun.

06

A quote form that reaches you

Tested with a real submission before handover, so no enquiry ends up in a spam folder.

For a plumbing business, good web design comes down to these 6 points more than to colours. The PageSpeed result for the finished site comes with the handover, so you can check the first point yourself.

06 / Case study

What one trade rebuild changed

Sydney Air & Solar had 6 service lines on one page. We rebuilt the site so each service had its own page, planned the redirects before launch, and kept everything the domain had already earned. The site now ranks on page one for 13 commercial Sydney searches, 4 of them in first position.

It is not a plumbing business, and the rankings came from the rebuild and ongoing search work together. The structure is the part that carries over: one page per job you want, and nothing hiding in a paragraph.

07 / Questions

Questions plumbers ask before the quote

Yes, for each one you want more work from. Each page can then answer the questions people ask about that job and show up for searches about it. Services you do rarely can share a page.

Usually not. One clear service area page does more. A suburb page earns its place when you have something real to say about it, such as jobs done there or different call-out terms. Swapping suburb names into the same text does not help anyone.

No, not on its own. For urgent jobs close to you it does a lot: people ring from the map. Planned work is different. Someone comparing plumbers for a renovation reads your site before they call, and the map listing links to it. The two work together.

Yes. The domain stays in your name, email keeps working, and we map your old pages to the new ones with redirects before launch.

Yes. We build on WordPress, so you can change prices, add photos of a finished job or edit a service page without calling us.

Most job management tools give you a booking link or an embed we can place on the site. A deeper integration is quoted separately, once we have seen what you use.

Not always. If the structure is sound and the site simply looks dated, a refresh from $890 may be all it needs. Our website redesign page explains where a refresh ends and a rebuild starts.

About a week. Having your licence number, service list and a few job photos ready is what keeps it to a week.

It makes it easier for someone who finds you to call or ask for a quote, and it gives each service a page that can be found. It cannot guarantee a number of jobs, and anyone who promises one before seeing your area is guessing.
