Websites for roofers
Roofing website design
Someone looking for a roofer is usually under a leak after a storm, or at the kitchen table with 2 quotes for a new roof. In September 2026 we tested 33 Sydney roofing websites on a phone for speed and accessibility, and checked each home page for a licence number. Most of them keep both customers waiting.
Our roofing website design is built around those checks. Each kind of roofing job gets its own page, and your finished roofs show without slowing the page. From $2,000, no GST added, live in a week.
01 / Our audit, September 2026
What we found on 33 roofing websites in Sydney
25 of 33
took longer than 4 seconds to show their main content in Google’s mobile test. Google treats anything over 4 seconds as poor. The middle result was 6.3 seconds.
25 of 33
showed no licence number on the home page, the one detail a homeowner can look up for themselves.
29 of 33
failed at least one automated accessibility check. On 26 it was text too faint against its background, the kind that vanishes on a phone held up in the sun.
2.7 MB
was the middle home page weight in the same test, and 16 of 33 pages were heavier than 3 MB. Every megabyte is something a phone on mobile data has to fetch.
5 of 33
had no main heading, so neither a search engine nor a screen reader can tell what the page is about.
29 of 100
roofing websites in a wider scan across 20 Sydney suburbs had no enquiry form on the home page.
How we checked
We took every roofing business that Google Maps listed for 20 Sydney suburbs, picked 40 at random and tested the home page of each on 30 September 2026. We kept the 33 that loaded as the business’s own website and were listed as roofing contractors. Speed and page weight come from Google’s PageSpeed Insights lab test on a simulated mobile connection, so real visitors may see faster or slower. The accessibility check is axe, which finds a share of problems, not all of them. We looked for a licence number on the home page only. We are not naming any business.
02 / NSW rules
A licence number a homeowner can check before the inspection
In NSW, roof plumbing and roof tiling are both trade work. Roof plumbing covers gutters, downpipes, flashing and roof coverings. A residential job worth more than $5,000 in labour and materials, GST included, needs a contractor licence. NSW Government: roof plumbing work, roof tiling work.
If you hold a contractor licence, the NSW rules for building trade advertising ask for your name, the licence number with its category of work, and a business phone number. They cover internet advertising, and your website is advertising. NSW Government: building trade advertisements.
A new roof is a lot of money to hand to someone met once on the driveway. A number lets the homeowner look you up on the NSW licence register in a minute. ‘Fully licensed’ on its own asks them to take your word for it.
The number and category go in the footer of every page, and again on the contact page beside your name and phone.

Sydney roofing home pages we checked showed no licence number.
03 / How roofing work arrives
A leak after a storm and a re-roof quote need different paths
The storm that puts water through one ceiling has the neighbours looking for a roofer the same night. Months later, someone else is deciding whether to restore their tiles or replace them. One contact form at the bottom of the home page serves neither.
The storm job
Your number sits at the top of the phone screen, and one tap rings you. After a big storm the site carries a short notice you can change yourself: whether you are doing make-safe repairs and roughly when you can get out. That is more use than a ’24/7′ promise you cannot keep that week. If you write reports for insurance claims, the page says so.
The planned job
Re-roofs, restorations and gutter replacements get quoted after an inspection, often against other roofers. The form asks for the suburb, the roof type if they know it and what they have noticed. Then it offers an inspection, not a price for a roof you have not seen. Photos of finished roofs do the persuading.
Each job you want more of gets its own page: roof repairs, re-roofing, roof restoration, gutters and downpipes, storm damage. Restoration and re-roofing are the pair to separate first. A homeowner with a tired roof wants to know which one they need. A page for each, with your photos, shows the difference before you arrive. Roofing companies that cover a wide area also get one clear service area page instead of a page per suburb.
04 / Your project photos
Before and after photos that sell the job without slowing the page
01
Resized before upload
A photo straight off a phone is sized for printing, not a phone screen. Every gallery image is resized and compressed first. A gallery of 20 finished roofs should not mean a long wait on mobile data.
02
Loaded as they scroll
Only the photos on screen load first. The rest arrive as the customer scrolls, so your number and the first job are there straight away.
03
Before and after from the same spot
Pairs taken from the same angle and set side by side. The difference shows at a glance.
04
Captions a search engine can use
Suburb, roof type and material under each job, such as ‘Terracotta restoration, Baulkham Hills’. Search engines lean on the text around a photo to know what it shows.
05
Your own jobs only
A stock photo of a perfect roof proves nothing about your work. The gallery is built from your own jobs, phone photos included.
06
Tested with the gallery in place
The under-4-second check in Google’s mobile test runs on the finished site, photos and all. Text contrast and one main heading per page are checked in the same pass.
For a roofing business, good web design comes down to these 6 points more than to colours. You get the PageSpeed result with the handover and can check the last point yourself.

06 / Case study
What one trade rebuild changed
Sydney Air & Solar had 6 service lines on one page. We rebuilt the site so each service had its own page, planned the redirects before launch, and kept everything the domain had already earned. The site now ranks on page one for 13 commercial Sydney searches, 4 of them in first position.
It is not a roofing business, and the rankings came from the rebuild and ongoing search work together. What carries over is the structure: one page per job you want, and nothing hiding in a paragraph.

07 / Questions
Questions roofers ask before the quote
Do I need separate pages for repairs, re-roofing and restoration?
Yes, if you want work from each. They are different decisions for the homeowner and different searches. Gutters and downpipes can share a page if they are a small part of your work.
Should storm damage have its own page?
If you take storm work, yes. It is where someone lands after a storm. It can say what you do first, how soon you usually get out and whether you write reports for insurers. If you do not take that work, leave the page out.
Can I put re-roofing prices on the site?
You can show a starting price if you are comfortable with it, but most roof work is priced after an inspection. The page can explain what moves the price, such as roof size, pitch, access and material, so your quote makes sense when it arrives.
What photos do I need?
Whatever you have from past jobs, phone photos included. Before and after pairs from the same spot are the most useful. We sort, resize and caption them, and suggest which shots to take on your next few jobs.
Can I keep my domain and email?
Yes. The domain stays in your name, email keeps working, and we map your old pages to the new ones with redirects before launch.
I already have a website. Do I need a new one?
Not always. If the structure is sound and the site simply looks dated, a refresh from $890 may be all it needs. Our website redesign page explains where a refresh ends and a rebuild starts.
How long does it take?
About a week. Having your licence number, service list and a folder of job photos ready is what keeps it to a week.
